Brand Building Mastery recognizes in-house teams that strengthen brand value and market position through a deep understanding of their organizations, customers and competitive environments.
Best Challenger Brand |
Recognizes smaller brands that punched above their weight, gaining outsized awareness or share. Entries are expected to define the competitive environment, explain why the brand should be considered a challenger, and demonstrate how the in-house team used customer understanding, strategic focus, creativity, and innovation to overcome a material disadvantage. |
| Best Brand Repositioning or Evolution* | Recognizes in-house agencies that successfully reinvented their brand’s role, voice, or market stance. Entries should help judges understand why change was necessary, what critical elements influenced the strategy, and how the in-house team translated that strategy into a meaningful evolution of the brand’s positioning, identity, voice, experience or market presence. |
| Business-to-Business Marketing | Recognizes in-house marketing designed to engage business audiences, including buyers, users, decision-makers, influencers, partners and other professional stakeholders. Entries should demonstrate a sophisticated understanding of the business audience, its priorities, buying environment, decision process and relationship with the brand by combining strategy, creativity, and execution to produce measurable growth in customer value and competitive strength. |
| Best New Brand/Product Launch* | Recognizes programs/campaigns designed to introduce new products or services to the marketplace. Entries in this category should describe how the in-house agency identified the opportunity and created a launch plan. Judges will want to see clearly defined launch objectives that pertain to awareness, consideration, trial, adoption, demand, sales or another clearly defined KPI. |
Creative Mastery
Creative Mastery recognizes the ideas, content, channels and creative expressions through which in-house teams earn attention, build meaningful connections and strengthen brands.
Big Idea Award |
Celebrates in-house teams that reach for the stars, think big, and turn a bold creative vision into work that commands attention and makes an impact. Judges will want to see how the team transformed a clearly defined marketing or business challenge and meaningful audience insight into an original, strategically powerful idea, then brought that idea to life through standout execution and measurable results. |
| Branded Content* | Recognizes original content created to engage, entertain, inform or educate an audience beyond traditional advertising. Eligible work may include but is not limited to films, documentaries, episodic programming, online video, articles, publications, podcasts, games, branded entertainment and other content audiences actively choose to experience. Entries should demonstrate the reasons for choosing the selected medium, how customer or audience understanding influenced its development and distribution, and how the in-house team connected the content to brand and business objectives. |
| Creator or Influencer-Driven | Recognizes the best use of creator/influencer marketing; marketing that utilized individuals, groups of individuals, groups, or associations to help advocate for the brand or product to gain credibility with target consumers as the primary communication tactic/strategy to reach your objectives. Programs/campaigns can include any type of influencers, from micro-influencers to TikTok stars to national celebrities, and anything in between. Entries should explain why the collaborator was selected, how customer and community understanding informed the partnership, and how the brand and creator worked together to develop authentic and distinctive marketing. |
| Out of Home | Recognizes marketing work produced by in-house agencies experienced in public, commercial, transit, retail and other out-of-home environments. Entries should demonstrate how customer understanding, location, context, format, technology or audience behavior informed the strategy and creative execution with measurable audience or business impacts in brand visibility, distinctiveness, and enduring market presence. Eligible work may include but is not limited to billboards, street furniture, kiosks, transit advertising, digital displays, dynamic content, interactive placements, environmental media and unconventional locations. |
| Social Media* | Recognizes marketing in which social media was the primary environment for the idea, audience experience or community strategy. Eligible work may include social-first campaigns, platform-native storytelling, paid or organic social programs, real-time content, community management, audience participation and innovative uses of social platforms. Entries should demonstrate how customer understanding and platform culture informed the strategy, creative execution and engagement model. Successful entries will show measurable impact while strengthening sustained community participation, customer relationships or enduring brand relevance. |
| Sports Marketing | Whether through sponsorships, fan experiences, social media engagement, or other pioneering methods, this award highlights the efforts that have elevated brands through the dynamic world of sports. Entries are accepted from in-house agencies that leveraged a major sporting event or a specific sport, league, team or player. Eligible work may involve professional, collegiate, amateur, youth, recreational, adaptive, emerging or esports environments. Entries should demonstrate how customer or fan understanding informed the strategy, how the connection to sports was creatively and authentically expressed. |
Customer Experience Mastery
Customer Experience Mastery recognizes in-house teams that transform customer understanding into connected, relevant and valuable interactions with brands. These categories celebrate campaigns, experiences and touchpoints that strengthen customer relationships, improve the brand experience and create competitive advantage, sustainable business growth and enduring brand value.
Brand Experience |
Recognizes a marketing-led initiative that improved how customers perceive, encounter or interact with a brand across one or more sustained touchpoints. Eligible work may involve digital platforms, retail environments, onboarding, service communications, packaging systems, loyalty experiences, commerce, personalized interactions or connected physical and digital environments. Entries should demonstrate how customer understanding shaped the strategy, how the experience expressed the brand consistently, and how the in-house team executed the experience across applicable touchpoints with measurable improvements in customer behavior, satisfaction, engagement, loyalty or business performance while strengthening enduring brand value. |
| Experiential (Live and/or Virtual) | Recognizes a physical, virtual or hybrid experience that brought a brand, product, service or idea to life. Eligible work may include but is not limited to live events, pop-ups, exhibitions, installations, product demonstrations, sampling programs, immersive environments, interactive digital experiences, virtual activations and hybrid experiences. Entries should demonstrate how customer understanding informed the strategy, how participation was incorporated into the creative execution, and how the experience expressed the brand with distinction. |
| Integrated Campaign* | Recognizes a campaign that coordinated three or more distinct marketing channels around one strategic idea. Entries should demonstrate how customer understanding informed the strategy, how each channel played a purposeful and complementary role, and how the message or experience remained connected across touchpoints. The campaign should demonstrate that integration strengthened the total impact beyond what the individual elements could have achieved independently. |
Business Impact Mastery
Business Impact Mastery recognizes how in-house teams translate marketing capabilities into measurable commercial, organizational, customer, and brand outcomes.
Data & Insights Excellence |
Recognizes in-house agencies that leveraged data to create highly personalized marketing experiences. Entries should demonstrate how data insights were used to tailor messaging, offers, or experiences to individual customers, resulting in stronger engagement and measurable business success. |
| Media Excellence | Recognizes in-house media teams whose insight, strategy, planning, buying, placement or channel innovation was essential to the strength and effectiveness of the marketing solution. Entries should demonstrate how customer and audience understanding informed the media approach, how each channel or platform contributed to the strategy, and how media and message worked together to improve performance. The submission should establish that media was a defining driver of the marketing outcome rather than solely a distribution mechanism. |
| Significant Business Results | Recognizes marketing work that produced exceptional and measurable business performance. Eligible results may include revenue, sales, profit, market share, customer acquisition or retention, conversion, lifetime value, demand, operational efficiency, cost reduction or another material business outcome. Entries must demonstrate how strategy, customer understanding, creative execution and the in-house team’s contribution produced the reported results. |
| Significant Marketing Results | Recognizes marketing work that produced exceptional and measurable improvement in marketing or brand performance. Eligible results may include awareness, reach, engagement, consideration, preference, brand perception, audience growth, lead generation, loyalty, advocacy or other clearly defined marketing indicators. Entries must demonstrate how strategy, customer understanding, creative execution and the in-house team’s contribution produced the reported results. |
Innovation Mastery
Innovation Mastery recognizes in-house teams that advance marketing through new technologies, models, methods and creative possibilities.
AI-Powered Creative Excellence |
Recognizes marketing work in which artificial intelligence made a meaningful and essential contribution to the development or execution of the creative idea. Eligible uses may include insight generation, concept development, writing, design, image or video creation, personalization, content adaptation, production, testing or optimization. Entries must explain why AI was appropriate, distinguish the contributions of technology and people, and demonstrate how responsible implementation improved the creative work and its performance. Successful entries will show measurable immediate value and explain how the application contributed to stronger capabilities, customer experiences, scalable marketing performance or enduring brand value. |
| Future of Marketing Award | Recognizes in-house teams that advanced their brand or business by changing the way marketing is created, delivered, experienced or managed. Eligible initiatives may involve emerging technologies, automation, new talent or partnership models, advanced personalization, new channels, experimental platforms, production methods or organizational capabilities. Judges will want to see a defined marketing or business challenge, an explanation of the existing model and competitive landscape, and details on how the in-house team introduced and implemented a meaningfully different approach. |
In-House Operations Mastery
In-House Operations Mastery recognizes the partnerships, communications and organizational systems through which in-house teams create greater and more consistent marketing value.
Best Collaborative Effort |
Recognizes outstanding work created through a collaboration involving an in-house team and one or more external agencies, production partners, specialist providers or other external contributors. Entries should explain why collaboration was strategically necessary, how roles and responsibilities were assigned, and how customer, brand and business objectives guided shared decisions. The submission should demonstrate how the collaborators combined complementary capabilities to strengthen the strategy, creative execution or results. |
| Internal Communications | Recognizes marketing communications and experiences created to inform, align, motivate, educate or activate employees and other internal stakeholders. Eligible work may address organizational strategy, change, culture, values, training, leadership communications, internal brand building, employee events, recruitment, employer brand, workforce initiatives, capabilities promotion or other priorities. Entries should demonstrate how employee understanding informed the strategy and how creative execution supported participation, adoption, alignment, advocacy or behavior change. |
| Marketing Orchestration Award | Recognizes in-house teams that have built a coordinated, repeatable operating model that connects the people, capabilities, processes, partners, technologies and intelligence required to create marketing value at scale. Eligible initiatives may integrate brand, creative, media, content, customer experience, data, technology, AI, production, external agencies, workflow, planning, measurement or governance. Entries should clearly define the business challenge addressed; explain how teams, decision rights, workflows and enabling technologies were intentionally aligned; and demonstrate how the model was implemented, adopted and sustained. Results should include measurable improvements in speed, quality, consistency, collaboration, efficiency, customer experience or business performance, along with evidence that the approach strengthens the in-house agency’s long-term contribution to enterprise growth and brand value. |
Leadership Mastery
Leadership Mastery recognizes the leaders, teams, cultures, values and responsible practices shaping the future of in-house marketing. These honors celebrate achievement that strengthens people and capabilities, elevates marketing’s organizational contribution and establishes the conditions for sustained business growth, enduring brand value and positive industry impact.
Culture & Growth Award |
Recognizes marketing work produced by in-house agencies that engages a defined audience by demonstrating a deep, authentic understanding of the culture, communities and shared experiences that shape how people see themselves and the world around them. Eligible work may draw on cultural traditions, identities, values, behaviors, language, passions, movements, moments or emerging trends to create meaningful relevance between the audience and the brand. Entries should demonstrate how cultural insight informed the strategy and creative execution, how the in-house agency participated in or contributed to the culture with credibility and respect, and how the work generated measurable audience engagement, brand affinity, consideration, advocacy or business impact. |
| In-House Agency of the Year | Recognizes the in-house organization that best demonstrates excellence in strategy, execution, results and team dynamic. The separate application should demonstrate how the team combines deep brand and customer knowledge with creativity, innovation, collaborative leadership and disciplined execution. Successful entries will show how the team’s culture, capabilities, work and organizational relationships produced measurable marketing and business impact during the eligibility year. The submission should also demonstrate how the organization is building the enduring capabilities and brand value necessary to support sustainable future growth. Only the highest scoring submissions within their main Masters of Marketing In-House Awards category(s) in the program’s main round of judging will be contenders for the In-House Agency of the Year honor. |
| In-House GEM Award | Spotlighting the industry's change makers and influencers featuring authentic, accurate portrayals of women and girls in their marketing efforts. The ANA’s SeeAll initiative, whose mission is to drive the accurate portrayal of women and girls in media, advertising, marketing, and entertainment, has created a unique opportunity for all Masters of Marketing In-House Awards applicants – The ANA Masters of Marketing In-House GEM® Award. This award will honor best-in-class creative work that exemplifies SeeAll’s mission. |
| In-House Leader of the Year | Recognizes an individual whose vision, leadership, innovation, results and body of work have made an exceptional contribution to an in-house marketing organization. Eligible nominees may nominate themselves or a colleague in creative, strategy, operations, production, content, media, data, technology, customer experience or another relevant discipline. Nominations will demonstrate how the leader developed people and capabilities, deepened customer and brand understanding, elevated the quality and influence of the team, and delivered meaningful organizational or business results. |
| Socially Responsible | Recognizes marketing that addresses a meaningful social, community, environmental, charitable or public-interest issue. Entries should demonstrate an authentic connection between the organization and the issue, meaningful customer or community understanding, and responsible strategic and creative choices with evidence of behavior change, community benefit, greater access or inclusion, environmental improvement, charitable support or positive cultural or societal contribution. The submission should also demonstrate how responsible action strengthened trust, stakeholder relationships or enduring brand value. |
Industry Mastery
Industry Mastery recognizes how in-house teams apply institutional knowledge, customer understanding and sector expertise to solve distinctive industry challenges.
Banking & Financial Services |
Recognizes exceptional in-house marketing created for banking and financial services organizations, products or brands. Entries should demonstrate how the team applied sector expertise, customer understanding, creativity, data, technology or experience design while addressing applicable regulatory, compliance, security, privacy and reputational requirements. The marketing should produce measurable improvements in visibility, trust, engagement, loyalty, customer behavior or business performance. |
| CPG/Food & Beverage | Recognizes exceptional in-house marketing created for consumer packaged goods and food and beverage organizations, products or brands. Entries should demonstrate how the team applied sector expertise, consumer understanding, brand storytelling, content, design, media, commerce, packaging, experience or innovation within a fast-moving and commercially demanding marketplace. The marketing should produce measurable improvements in awareness, preference, trial, engagement, loyalty, sales or another meaningful outcome.
